Endless

I had the pleasure of meeting Matt, aka NumbersInMotion, at the 2022 AB-Marfa event. Excited to share my latest project, I explained to him the concept, which drew inspiration from Roman Opałka's life work. Opałka painted continuously incrementing numbers on a canvas from 0 to infinity, creating a single, unbroken sequence that represented his life's work.

Endless as we called the project, would continue the number sequence from where Opałka left off. It incorporated some generativeness within the numbers, creating fading, scaling, and margin effects. Also, to give the numbers (0-9) an organic touch, I hand-traced them multiple times, allowing for slight variations in each iteration.

Matt was enthusiastic about the idea, and with the upcoming anniversary of Plottables, it seemed like the perfect project to cap off the year. Together, we refined the concept and discussed ways to make it work on the site.

In the end, "Endless" became a testament to Opałka's legacy and a celebration of the beauty that can be found in the simplest of numbers. Six million and counting!!!
